We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic Band 3 Activity Coordinator to join Brant Ward, our older adult functional mental health inpatient ward at Witham Court.
You will help people reconnect with their interests, enjoy social contact and take part in activities that bring purpose to their day. From individual sessions to group activities, you will help shape a varied programme around patients' choices, strengths and care needs.
Working alongside nursing, occupational therapy and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will have opportunities to contribute ideas and help develop our activity provision. We are looking for someone who can build relationships, use initiative and adapt activities to different needs and abilities.
The proposed post is 22.5 hours per week for six months, with regular weekend working a key requirement. We are exploring the potential to extend the post and increase the hours to full time, subject to funding, approval and evaluation of the service. Neither is guaranteed.
We are not able to offer sponsorship for this role. Please provide details of the visa type and expiry date in your application. Failure to provide the required information will result in your application being rejected.
Plan, coordinate and deliver meaningful social, recreational and therapeutic activities for older adults receiving inpatient mental health care, with a particular focus on weekend provision.
Work with patients to understand their interests, preferences and assessed needs, offering accessible individual and group activities that support choice, independence and social engagement.
Collaborate with nursing staff, occupational therapy and the wider multidisciplinary team to develop a structured, adaptable activity timetable linked to individual care plans.
Maintain resources and prepare activities that colleagues can use when you are not on duty, supporting continuity throughout the week.
Assess risks before and during activities, follow agreed care plans and report changes or concerns promptly to the appropriate clinician.
Keep accurate electronic records of participation and contribute to care planning, handovers and reviews, maintaining confidentiality.
Help evaluate activity provision through participation records, patient feedback and agreed service measures, contributing to audit and quality improvement.
Manage activity supplies and equipment safely, identify resource needs and participate in supervision and relevant training.
