Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living.
  • Promote mental and physical activity through planned programmes.

  • Liaise with key workers and attend meetings.
  • Provide one-to-one stimulation when residents need it.
  • Promote the home through events and activities.
  • Complete mandatory training and follow policies.

Job description

ob Purpose: It requires a positive determination to understand and work alongside staff and service users, to promote their wellbeing and to work as a member of a wider team. To meet the needs of service users attending the Activities Group in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence. To plan and run a weekly programme of activities for Activity Group members.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Qualifications: Experience caring for the Service User group. Knowledge and experience of working in the care sector. Has good communication skills, including verbal and written skill. Has due consideration to the safety of others following legal, regulatory and best practice guidelines.

Principal Responsibilities: Ensuring appropriate activities and groups are taking place.

  • To assist residents who need help with activities of daily living and personal tasks
  • To help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of residents, through conversation, outings, sharing in discussion of past and present events, reading, writing, hobbies, and other activities in accordance with the agreed programme.
  • To be responsible for tidying rooms used by the Activities Group, storing and updating equipment.
  • To keep appropriate records of activities and assessment forms to review the development of residents involved in the Activities Group
  • To complete life history and then records for individuals or groups, using the CareVision system
  • To liaise with the key workers of group members and to take part in staff and other meetings as necessary
  • When time/opportunity permits, to provide mental/physical stimulation on a one-to-one basis for residents who are in need and unable to attend the group Activities.
  • To liaise with family, friends, volunteers, and other outside agencies having an interest in theActivities Group.
  • To keep informed through reading and training of any new developments, which would assist the development of the Activities Group.
  • Develop activities that reflect person centred care and choice
  • Help to develop individual life stories
  • Work closely with OOMPH and attend OOMPH meetings
  • Assist in marketing and promoting the home
  • Attend mandatory and in house training as required
  • Complete mandatory training via e learning and other in‑house training as required
  • Abide by and understand Company’s policies and procedures
  • Abide by Company’s Staff Handbook Health and Safety

Be conversant with the requirements under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and of the safety of others.
