Carey Care is seeking an Activities Co-ordinator at Hill House Care Home to lead a varied, person-centred activities programme for residents. You will tailor activities to individual needs, manage a planner, and work to a set budget.

Activities are tailored to our residents needs and abilities and are very much person centred. This will include musical entertainment, days out, exercise classes, games, social gatherings, visitors from the community, arts & crafts and delivering one to one session with our residents.
Purpose:
To lead and encourage residents to join in meaningful activities whilst maintaining their independence, choice and dignity, to enable them to lead as full and active life as possible
To create a stimulating and varied programme of leisure activities and social events, inside and outside of the home, for residents to enjoy. To work with each resident to understand their likes/ dislikes, abilities and needs to put together and individual activities care plan and to evaluate regularly.
To enable the residents an access to local community
To enable the residents to continue with their hobbies and interests as desired.
Skills, Knowldege & Qualifications:
Required:
A genuine interest in working with the elderly to enhance their wellbeing
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
The ability to work autonomously and deliver on time
Excellent organisational skills
An appreciation of the need for confidentiality in line with GDPR protocol
Enthusiasm and willingness.
Previous Care Home and engagement / activities experience
Professional telephone manner
Previous experience of administration procedures
Main Responsibilities:
Update the activities planner in conjunction with the Activities Lead, working to a set budget.
Ensure the activity and social programme incorporates weekends.
Supporting residents and encouraging them to join in group activities such as bingo, tea pot afternoon, games and quizzes
To liaise with relatives and staff regarding special individual requirements, such as birthdays and anniversaries, cultural and religious festivals and celebrations, and to be aware of the religious calendar that may affect activity pursuits, relevant to the ethnic mix of residents.
Liaise with the local community organisations. such as church ministers, schools etc
Organise materials and logistics for planned events, performers and trips out.
Perform one to one meeting with residents which could include, life history, reading, poetry, chatting over a cup of tea, reminiscence etc.
To work as an active team member with your colleagues within the home to ensure highest standard of care are achieved.
Updating care plans with activity notes and managing emails, printing and ordering materials needed.
To undertake any reasonable request which facilitates the resident’s right to choice, dignity and respect.
To be familiar and competent in using risk assessment for outside trips, with assistance from the team.
Ensure all activities are documented in the activity’s diary on Altra.
To undertake any other duties, within your area of competence, as required by the Manager.
