Job summary

Healthcare Ireland Group is seeking an Activity Co-Ordinator for Glenabbey Manor in Newtownabbey, County Antrim. The role involves planning and delivering engaging recreational and therapeutic activities to residents, working with the care team, families, and external partners to tailor a broad programme.

The role requires GCSE level or equivalent with good English, strong communication and listening skills, and preference for candidates with 2+ years in a regulated care or support setting.

Situated just a 15 minute drive from Belfast and set in the heart of an already established residential community, Glenabbey Manor is a friendly, safe and welcoming residential and dementia care home, with provision for up to 76 residents.

Our private bedroom spaces are fully furnished, with a flat screen TV and en-suite shower room as standard. Residents may bring their own home accessories and furniture, to personalise their space and make it their home.

The Role

The role of Activity Co-Ordinator involves providing a schedule of engaging pursuits that create a supportive environment where residents can thrive.

The Activity Co-Ordinator will contribute to the planning, organising and facilitation of recreational and therapeutic activities for residents in our Homes. The Activity Co-Ordinator will work closely with the care team, families, resident and external partners to develop and implement a wide range of activities that cater to the diverse interests and abilities of our residents.

About The Role

Main Responsibilities

• Preparing, planning and delivering group and individual recreational and occupational activities, observing, recording and reporting resident response.
• Engage with residents in one-on-one or group activities, such as games, crafts, music, exercise, outings and social events based on their interest and preferences.
• Setting up and organising of activity areas, including gathering supplies, arranging furniture and displaying materials.
• Ensure the effective, timely and accurate updating of records, case files and computerised information systems.
• Stay informed about best practices and trends in wellbeing and activities for residents.
• Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required as designated by the Home Manager.
