Job summary

Thornfield Care Home in Seaton on the Jurassic Coast is seeking an Activities Coordinator to design and deliver a varied programme of group and one-to-one activities.

You will tailor activities to individual interests and care needs, build relationships with residents and families, and work as part of the wider team to create a warm, inclusive environment.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to plan and deliver engaging activities.
• A genuine interest in supporting older people.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Previous experience in activities or a similar role is beneficial; transferable skills from hospitality, events, childcare or community work are encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, meaningful and person-centred activities that promote wellbeing and social interaction.
• Plan and deliver a varied programme of group and one-to-one activities tailored to individual interests and care needs.
• Build strong relationships to understand preferences and support inclusive participation for all residents, including those living with dementia.
• Work as part of the wider team to maintain a positive, stimulating environment for residents.

Job description

Thornfield Care Home is situated on the outskirts of the lovely seaside town of Seaton which is located on the world-famous Jurassic Coast. Thornfield Care Home is registered for 52 residents.

Activities Coordinator Contract £12.71 per hour Contracted to 24- 32hours per week Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview As Activities Coordinator, you will play a key role in enhancing daily life by delivering engaging, meaningful and person centred activities that promote wellbeing, independence and social interaction. You will plan and deliver a varied programme of group and one to one activities, tailored to individual interests, abilities and care needs. Building strong relationships is essential, enabling a clear understanding of preferences and supporting inclusive participation for all individuals, including those living with dementia. Working as part of the wider team, the role contributes to a positive and stimulating environment where individuals feel valued, active and connected.

This role is open to both experienced candidates and those new to care, with training and support provided to help you develop in the role. The successful candidate will be required to work alternate weekends.
