Job summary

Skycare in the Hounslow area of London is seeking a creative Activities Coordinator to enhance the daily lives of residents in a welcoming nursing home. You will plan, organise and lead a varied programme of activities, including those tailored for dementia, working with residents, families and the care team to promote wellbeing, independence and social engagement.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as an Activities Coordinator, Wellbeing Coordinator, Activity Assistant, or similar role within a care, healthcare, community, or hospitality setting
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Experience planning and delivering engaging activities for older adults
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Understanding of person-centred care and resident wellbeing

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver a varied programme of activities daily, weekly, and seasonally.
  • Organise group and one-to-one activities that support residents' physical, emotional, social, and cognitive wellbeing.
  • Develop person-centred activity plans based on residents' interests and life experiences.
  • Encourage resident participation and promote inclusion throughout the home.
  • Organise outings, special events, celebrations, and community engagement activities.
  • Arrange visits from entertainers, schools, community groups, and volunteers.
  • Support residents living with dementia through meaningful and therapeutic activities.
  • Monitor participation, gather feedback, and continually improve activity programmes.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of resident engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with care staff and management to ensure activities are delivered safely and effectively.
  • Ensure all activities comply with health and safety requirements and CQC standards

We are seeking an enthusiastic Activities Coordinator to join our dedicated team within a welcoming nursing home in Luton. As Activities Coordinator, you will be responsible for delivering a varied programme of activities that enrich residents' daily lives and ensure every resident feels valued, included, and supported.

About the Role

You will plan, organise, and lead a wide range of engaging, person-centred activities tailored to residents' individual interests, backgrounds, abilities, and preferences, including supporting those living with dementia.

Working closely with residents, families, and the wider care team, you will help create a vibrant and stimulating environment where residents can continue enjoying meaningful experiences and social connections.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Qualifications & Experience
  • Previous experience as an Activities Coordinator, Wellbeing Coordinator, Activity Assistant, or similar role within a care, healthcare, community, or hospitality setting

  • Experience planning and delivering engaging activities for older adults
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to engage and motivate individuals with varying physical and cognitive abilities
Desirable Qualifications
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care
  • Level 2 Award in Activity Provision in Social Care (or equivalent)
  • Dementia Awareness Training
  • Safeguarding Adults Training
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Previous experience working within a nursing home, residential care home, dementia care, or assisted living environment
