Job summary

Serenita Care Home in Weston-super-Mare is seeking an Activities Coordinator to deliver engaging, person-centred activities that promote wellbeing, independence and social interaction.

You will plan and deliver a varied programme of group and one-to-one activities, tailored to individual interests, abilities and care needs, building relationships to support inclusive participation for all residents, including those living with dementia.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging activities.
  • Genuine interest in supporting older people.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in activities or similar role is beneficial; transferable hospitality, events, childcare or community work encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, meaningful, person-centred activities to promote wellbeing and social interaction.
  • Plan and run a varied programme of group and one-to-one activities tailored to interests and needs.
  • Build strong relationships with residents and support dementia-inclusive participation.
  • Work with the wider team to maintain a positive, stimulating environment.

Job description

Serenita Care Home is a well established service in Weston-super-Mare, set within a characterful Victorian residence close to the seafront. Supporting up to 34 residents, the home provides specialist care for individuals with mental health conditions, including alcohol related brain damage and Korsakoff’s syndrome, within a structured, supportive and independence focused environment.

Activities Coordinator Contract
  • £12.71 per hour
  • Contracted to 37.5 hours per week - Alternate weekends
  • Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)
Role Overview

As Activities Coordinator, you will play a key role in enhancing daily life by delivering engaging, meaningful and person centred activities that promote wellbeing, independence and social interaction.

You will plan and deliver a varied programme of group and one to one activities, tailored to individual interests, abilities and care needs. Building strong relationships is essential, enabling a clear understanding of preferences and supporting inclusive participation for all individuals, including those living with dementia.

Working as part of the wider team, the role contributes to a positive and stimulating environment where individuals feel valued, active and connected. This role is open to both experienced candidates and those new to care, with training and support provided to help you develop in the role.

The working hours will be Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm.
