Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Barrow-in-Furness is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels on a rotating schedule. The role is permanent, 27.5 hours per week across Monday to Sunday, with weekend work and a 1pm-7pm shift on Sundays.

You’ll drive a Royal Mail van, walk long distances, work outdoors in all weather, and build relationships with customers while staying active and connected to your community.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift/carry 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently

Responsibilities

• Sort letters and parcels at the delivery office
• Deliver post by van and on foot in your local area
• Build relationships with customers
• Work outdoors in all weathers
