Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie in Burnley to deliver letters and parcels across a 5-day week, with a 9-month fixed-term contract. Training provided, and you must hold a full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points). The role involves walking long distances, driving a Royal Mail van daily, and working outdoors in all weather.

You will join a team serving the local community. Hours are 35 per week with rotating shifts; overtime is paid.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence with up to 6 penalty points.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift/carry 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated in a busy environment.
• Strong organisation and resilience; customer-focused with pride in service.
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently.

Responsibilities

• Sort letters and parcels at the delivery office.
• Deliver post by van and on foot in your local area.
• Build relationships with customers.
