Job summary

Stoke-on-Trent City Council in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking an enthusiastic Active Design Officer to shape healthier, more active neighbourhoods by embedding design principles into planning, transport and regeneration projects across Bentilee, Meir, Abbey Hulton and Burslem.

You will work with Planning, Transport and Public Health teams and partners to promote active travel, access to green and blue spaces and inclusive place-making, helping communities become healthier and more active.

Qualifications

• Experience or knowledge of active design, health place-making, active travel, planning, regeneration or community infrastructure
• Strong partnership-working, communication and influencing skills
• Ability to identify opportunities and turn ideas into positive outcomes for local communities
• Experience across different professional disciplines, particularly planning, transport, public health, regeneration or community organisations

Responsibilities

• Support integration of active design into planning, transport, regeneration and infrastructure projects
• Collaborate with Planning, Transport, Public Health and community partners to increase walking and cycling
• Support development and activation of accessible blue and green spaces and active travel routes
• Align transport and infrastructure investment with Place Expansion objectives and Council priorities
• Engage with residents and stakeholders to support community-led environmental improvements
• Provide advice and recommendations on healthy place-making to inform project development and partnership working
