• Complete monthly intercompany reconciliations and support Group reporting requirements.
• Prepare management reports including aging analysis, P&L overviews, KPIs and disbursement accounts.
• Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes while resolving ledger variances.
• Support tax reporting and statutory compliance.

Accounts Specialist - Spider is recruiting on behalf of a privately held global shipping company for an experienced Accounts Specialist to join their team in Ipswich, Suffolk. This is a full-time, permanent, office-based position.

About the role:

As Accounts Specialist, you will perform daily financial transactions, general ledger reconciliations, credit control, and financial reporting. Working closely with Group Headquarters (HQ), you will ensure full alignment between ERP systems and local statutory accounting standards, maintain timely receivables/payables cycles, and contribute to seamless month-end and year-end closing processes.

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Recording and reconciling daily financial transactions across SAP Business One and local accounting systems.
• Completing bank reconciliations, payroll journals and maintaining accurate audit trails.
• Managing customer accounts, credit control, collections and invoice disputes to minimise DSO.
• Processing supplier invoices, resolving discrepancies and managing vendor payments and onboarding.
• Completing monthly intercompany reconciliations and supporting Group reporting requirements.
• Preparing management reports including aging analysis, P&L overviews, KPIs and disbursement accounts.
• Supporting month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes while resolving ledger variances.
• Supporting tax reporting, statutory compliance and maintaining accurate financial records.

About you:

You’ll be an experienced accounting professional with a minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in full‑cycle accounting, credit control, and financial reporting, preferably within a multinational or shipping/freight forwarding/logistics environment. You’ll have a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related subject.

You’ll be comfortable using accounting systems and Microsoft Excel, with experience of ERP systems such as SAP Business One, reconciliations, multi‑currency transactions and intercompany accounting being beneficial. Most importantly, you’ll be organised, detail‑focused and confident communicating with colleagues, customers, suppliers and Group HQ.
