Job summary

Acorn by Synergie is seeking an experienced Accounts Senior for a Totnes-based practice. The role involves managing a varied client portfolio, overseeing accounts preparation, tax work, and mentoring junior staff. The position offers hybrid working and opportunities for career progression within a friendly team.

You will contribute to high-quality accounting and tax services, support workflow planning, and build strong client relationships while delivering proactive advice.

Qualifications

• AAT Level 4 qualification or equivalent practical experience.
• At least one year's post-qualified experience or three–four years in an accountancy practice.
• Strong knowledge of accounts preparation, VAT and business taxation.
• Excellent communication, organisational and client relationship management skills.
• Ability to manage workloads effectively and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
• Produce and review corporation tax and personal tax returns.
• Prepare management accounts and provide tax advice to clients.
• Manage a varied client portfolio and respond to day-to-day client queries.
• Support, mentor and develop junior team members.
• Assist with workflow planning, budgeting and client software support.
• Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
