Job summary

Acorn Recruitment is seeking an Accounts Senior in Totnes for a well-established accountancy practice. The role offers hybrid working, a full-time permanent contract, and exposure to a varied client portfolio with opportunities for professional growth.

The ideal candidate will be AAT Level 4 qualified (or equivalent) with 1+ years post-qualified experience or 3–4 years in practice, strong accounts, VAT and tax knowledge, and excellent client relationship skills.

Qualifications

• AAT Level 4 qualification or equivalent practical experience.
• 1+ years post-qualified experience or 3–4 years in an accountancy practice.
• Strong knowledge of accounts preparation, VAT and business taxation.
• Experience using accounting software and production tools (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Produce and review corporation tax and personal tax returns.
• Prepare management accounts and provide tax advice to clients.
• Manage a varied client portfolio and respond to day-to-day client queries.
• Support, mentor and develop junior team members.
• Assist with workflow planning, budgeting and client software support.
• Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
