Acorn by Synergie is seeking an Accounts Semi Senior to join an established accountancy practice in Totnes. This role offers a varied portfolio, client relationships, and opportunities to advance technical expertise within a supportive, flexible environment.

You will work on sole traders, partnerships, and companies, handling accounts, VAT, tax returns, and liaising with HMRC while supporting junior staff and developing your career in a hybrid setup.

Qualifications

• AAT Level 4 or equivalent practical experience.
• Around four years' experience in an accountancy practice.
• Experience using Xero, Sage and QuickBooks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
• Produce VAT returns, bookkeeping, and management accounts.
• Prepare corporation tax and personal tax returns.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, responding to accountancy queries.
• Liaise with HMRC when required.
• Support and assist junior team members with their development.

Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting on behalf of an established and growing accountancy practice for an Accounts Semi Senior to join their friendly team in Totnes.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accountancy practice professional to manage a varied portfolio of clients while continuing to develop their career within a supportive and flexible working environment. You'll work with a wide range of businesses, building strong client relationships while developing your technical expertise.

Key Duties

• Prepare accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
• Produce VAT returns, bookkeeping, and management accounts.
• Prepare corporation tax and personal tax returns.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, responding to accountancy queries.
• Liaise with HMRC when required.
• Support and assist junior team members with their development.

Requirements

• AAT Level 4 qualified or qualified through equivalent practical experience.
• Around four years' experience working within an accountancy practice.
• Experience using accounting software including Xero, Sage, and QuickBooks.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Strong client relationship management skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
