Job summary

Clear Legal & Financial Recruitment is assisting a well-established professional services firm in Barnstaple to recruit an Accounts Senior. This hands-on role involves delivering high-quality accounting and tax services to a diverse client base within a collaborative general practice environment.

You will work closely with managers and partners, take ownership of assignments, mentor junior staff, and contribute to team development while supporting clients and meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

• ACA / ACCA / AAT part qualified or currently studying.
• Experience working within an accountancy practice.
• Strong technical understanding of accounting principles and tax compliance.
• Confident using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or IRIS.
• Strong communication with client-focused approach.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
• Able to manage competing priorities effectively.
• Proactive, adaptable, and eager to develop within your career.

Responsibilities

• Prepare year-end financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, charities, and limited companies.
• Prepare VAT returns and assist with client queries.
• Prepare personal and business tax returns and computations.
• Liaise directly with clients to resolve queries and provide support.
• Support managers with the development and mentoring of junior staff.
• Manage own workload and ensure deadlines are met.
• Work across a range of clients within a general practice environment.
