Job summary

Castle Employment is working with a respected independent accountancy practice in Scarborough to recruit a Semi Senior Accountant. The role offers hybrid working, a salary up to £32,000 DOE, and full study support to progress ACCA/ACA.

You’ll work with a varied client portfolio, preparing year-end accounts and handling bookkeeping and VAT tasks. The successful candidate will join an experienced team, develop technical knowledge, and take on more responsibility as they progress within the

Are you an experienced Accounts Semi Senior looking for your next opportunity within a well-established accountancy practice?

Castle Employment are working with a respected, independent accountancy practice in Scarborough who are looking to recruit a Semi Senior Accountant to join their team.

This is a great opportunity for someone with previous practice experience who enjoys working with a varied portfolio of clients and wants to continue developing their technical knowledge within a supportive and friendly environment.
You’ll be joining an experienced team where you’ll have the opportunity to build on your existing skills, take on more responsibility and progress towards further qualifications.

The Role
Working closely with experienced Senior Accountants and Managers, you’ll be involved in a variety of accounts preparation, bookkeeping and VAT responsibilities.
Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Supporting with bookkeeping and VAT returns for a varied portfolio of clients.
• Assisting with the preparation of management accounts and year-end processes.
• Liaising directly with clients and responding to day-to-day accounting queries.
• Supporting senior colleagues with more complex accounts preparation assignments.
• Assisting with tax compliance and wider accountancy practice responsibilities.
• Managing your own workload and ensuring deadlines are met.
• Developing your technical knowledge and gradually taking ownership of client work.

About YouWe’re looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience working within an accountancy practice.
• Is ideally AAT Level 3 or 4 qualified, or studying towards ACCA/ACA.
• Has a good understanding of bookkeeping, VAT and accounts preparation.
• Has experience working with sole traders, partnerships or limited companies.
• Has strong organisational skills and good attention to detail.
• Is confident communicating with clients and working as part of a team.
• Is proactive, enthusiastic and keen to continue developing their career.
