The Hastings District Council Finance team is committed to delivering exceptional financial services across all parts of Council. We're looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to lead our Accounts Payable function. We're seeking a strong communicator with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy, as well as the ability to problem solve and strong investigation skills. You will join a supportive and diverse team where you will have the opportunity to take ownership of your position and work closely with the wider Finance Operations team.

The duties and responsibilities of this role will include:

  1. Mentoring and driving performance in our Accounts Payable team
  2. Managing day-to-day operations and control of Accounts Payable areas
  3. Ensuring compliance with local tax regulations and internal controls
  4. Performing daily reconciliations, ledger journals, and monthly reporting

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A relevant qualification in Accounting or Business/Accounting Principles
  • Proven experience in Accounts Payable, including leadership experience
  • Experience dealing with the public
  • An analytical mindset with a passion for process improvement
