Salt Separation Services Ltd in Rochdale is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join the Finance team. The role prioritises Accounts Payable processing, supplier relationships, and accurate financial data preparation.

You will report to the Head of Finance and contribute to month-end activities and continuous improvement in a growing engineering business. This hands-on position requires attention to detail and strong ERP experience, with the chance to develop processes and work across the broader

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in a finance function.
• End-to-end purchase ledger management experience.
• Experience preparing supplier payment runs (BACS, CHAPS, international).
• Proficient in supplier statement reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
• Experience supporting month-end/year-end closes including accruals/prepayments.
• Journals posting and balance sheet reconciliations experience.
• ERP/system experience, ideally Epicor.
• Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP).

Responsibilities

• Process and post supplier invoices accurately and timely.
• Download invoices from portals and match to documentation.
• Manage AP queries and maintain unposted invoices log.
• Prepare and review aged creditors and payment runs.
• Maintain supplier banking details in ERP and perform reconciliations.
• Post journals and perform GL account analysis.
• Support monthly balance sheet reconciliations and accruals.
• Assist with annual audits and supplier credit checks.
