Accounts Payable / Accounts Assistant - Barnstaple - £24-26,000

Trial Balance Consulting have been engaged by a long-standing client, a well-established e-commerce and retail business. They currently seek to recruit an experienced accounts payable/Accounts Assistant who will take a lead role in the management of accounts payable function. This is a full time, permanent opportunity to be based from the company’s modern offices in Barnstaple.

The role works within a friendly and very experienced finance team and will report to the company’s Finance Director. This will be a busy, but well supported role which covers a broad range of accounts payable duties. Key responsibilities include:

1. Assume lead responsibility for the accounts payable function
2. Creating new supplier accounts adhering to payment terms
3. Act as first line of support for supplier queries
4. Raise and allocate PO numbers
5. Stock adjustments
6. Statement reconciliations
7. Matching unbalanced invoices
8. Prepare VAT reports
9. Ad-hoc accounting duties including covering colleagues' annual leave

For this role, we’re seeking an experienced, organised, and accurate Purchase Ledger clerk with at least 12 months of recently gained experience in a fast-paced function where a good aptitude for working as part of a team is essential. The company primarily uses a bespoke accounting platform where full training will be provided, but the successful candidate should possess the ability to learn new platforms quickly.
