Job summary

Kream Motor Recruitment is working with a long-established automotive business in Exeter to appoint an Accounts Manager / Bookkeeper / Dealership Accountant. The role is permanent with flexible background requirements and a salary reflecting experience, from £30,000–£35,000 for a Bookkeeper to up to £45,000 for a Senior Dealership Accountant, DoE.

Reporting to owners and leadership, you will ensure smooth financial operations, accurate reporting and strong controls across ledgers,

Qualifications

• Experience in dealership accounting is preferred.
• Proven bookkeeping and accounts management capability in a busy environment.
• Strong commercial awareness and financial reporting skills.
• Motor trade experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage sales and purchase ledgers and perform bank reconciliations.
• Monitor cashflow, credit control and payment processing.
• Liaise with payroll and handle financial administration.
• Support month-end processes and provide management reporting.
• Prepare balance sheets, budgeting and forecasting; analyze profitability.
• Collaborate with external accountants, auditors and funding partners.
• Provide financial insight for commercial decision making.

We’re working with a successful, long-established automotive business seeking a finance professional to join its team in a pivotal role supporting the day-to-day financial operation of the business.

Importantly, this opportunity is flexible. Whether you’re an experienced Dealership Accountant from a motor retail background, or a capable Bookkeeper / Accounts Manager looking to take ownership of a busy accounts function, we’d like to hear from you.

For the right individual, the role can be tailored to suit your experience and strengths, with salary and responsibilities reflecting the level you bring.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the business owners and leadership team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth financial running of the operation while providing accurate reporting, analysis and financial controls.

Depending on your background, responsibilities may include:

• Sales and purchase ledger management
• Bank reconciliations and cashflow monitoring
• Credit control and payment management
• Payroll liaison and financial administration
• Month-end processes and management reporting
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• Budgeting and forecasting support
• Monitoring departmental performance and profitability
• Working with external accountants, auditors and funding partners
• Providing financial insight to support commercial decision-making
