The Accounts Manager should already have solid experience within accountancy and ideally be ACA or ACCA qualified.

You'll need enough technical confidence to review work accurately, but personality matters here too. The firm wants people who can sit across the table from a business owner, understand what they are trying to achieve and communicate without burying everything in accounting terminology.
