Job summary

Autograph Recruitment Ltd is supporting a well-established Cardiff practice to appoint an experienced Accounts Manager. The role focuses on managing a varied SME client portfolio, delivering high-quality accounts work from start to finish and liaising directly with clients.

You will prepare statutory and management accounts, oversee bookkeeping, and provide commercial accounting advice. ACCA/ACA or equivalent experience is preferred, with strong communication and organisation.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of SME clients
• Prepare and review statutory accounts

• Provide clients with accounting and commercial advice
• Review work by junior team members
• Manage deadlines and ensure accuracy
• Liaise with clients and build relationships
• Support mentoring of junior staff

I'm delighted to be working with a well-established and growing accountancy practice in Cardiff who are looking to appoint an experienced Accounts Manager to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with clients, managing a varied portfolio and taking ownership of accounts work from start to finish.

The Role:

You will take responsibility for a varied portfolio of clients, providing a high-quality accounts service while supporting the wider team.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing a portfolio of SME clients
• Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts
• Preparing management accounts and VAT returns
• Overseeing bookkeeping and accounts production
• Providing clients with accounting and commercial advice
• Reviewing work completed by junior members of the team
• Managing deadlines and ensuring work is completed accurately
• Liaising directly with clients and building strong relationships
• Supporting the development and mentoring of junior team members

About You:

• Previous experience within a UK accountancy practice
• Strong experience in accounts preparation
• Confident managing a portfolio of clients
• Strong technical accounting knowledge
• Excellent communication and client management skills
• Organised, commercially aware and able to manage your own workload
• ACCA/ACA qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience
