Job summary

TPF Recruitment Ltd is assisting an independent accountancy practice in Epsom to recruit an Accounts Assistant. You will support day-to-day bookkeeping, VAT returns and tax work for a varied client base, using cloud accounting software. The role offers a clear pathway for development within the firm.

You will work in a friendly, professional team focusing on accuracy, deadlines and client service, with opportunities to learn and progress in the accountancy field.

Qualifications

• AAT Level 4 qualification or ACCA apprenticeship is preferred.
• Experience in a UK-based accountancy practice is preferred but not essential.
• Strong IT skills, especially Excel and accounting software.
• Proactive, organised, detail-oriented approach; able to meet deadlines.
• Friendly, collaborative mindset with willingness to learn.
• Ambition to develop career within accountancy.

Responsibilities

• Prepare bookkeeping records and VAT returns for a varied client portfolio.
• Assist with year-end accounts preparation for sole traders, partnerships and ltd companies.
• Prepare Self Assessment tax returns and support other personal tax work.
• Liaise with clients to obtain information, answer queries and provide ongoing support.
• Maintain accurate financial records using cloud accounting software.
• Support senior team members on ad hoc accounting tasks, delivering accurate work on time.
