Astute Recruitment in Derby is seeking an Accounts Assistant to join a well-established business on a permanent basis. The role covers a broad range of transactional finance, including Purchase Ledger, subcontractor accounts, CIS, and payroll support.

The ideal candidate will have solid purchase ledger experience and a background in construction sector processes. This is a hands-on role in a close-knit finance team with opportunities to develop broader finance function exposure.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar transactional finance role.
• Good purchase ledger and general accounting experience.
• Construction sector experience would be advantageous.
• Experience with CIS and subcontractor accounts would be beneficial.
• Payroll and timesheet experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Inputting and processing purchase ledger invoices.
• Setting up subcontractor orders and processing subcontractor payments.
• Preparing subcontractor and purchase ledger payment runs.
• Supporting weekly timesheet calculations and payroll.
• Completing CIS returns.
• Petty cash analysis.
• Balancing ledgers and completing reconciliations.
• Preparing payment reports and cashflow forecasts.
• Maintaining accurate financial records and answering finance queries.
