Job summary

Reed is seeking an Accounts Assistant to join an Essex-based accountancy practice. You will support a varied portfolio of clients with bookkeeping, VAT returns and other duties, while pursuing an AAT qualification with full study support.

You will work closely with senior team members, using cloud software such as Xero and QuickBooks, and develop a long-term career within a supportive, friendly environment that values training and progression.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping and VAT returns.
• Experience using accounting software, ideally Xero or QuickBooks.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• AAT qualification or currently studying AAT.
• Desire to build a long-term career within accountancy practice.

Responsibilities

• Bookkeeping for a range of clients.
• Preparation of VAT returns.
• Bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assisting with year-end accounts preparation.
• Liaising with clients and responding to queries.
• Supporting senior accountants with ad hoc duties.
• Use of cloud-based software such as Xero and QuickBooks.
