Accountancy Recruit is partnering with a business that provides specialist services to the construction industry across the UK, in the recruitment of an Accounts Assistant based in Little Warley, Essex.
You will become part of a collaborative, supportive accounts team within this successful, growing business and report to the Group Financial Controller. You will be involved in day-to-day transactions and associated tasks. The role offers study support to complete AAT or begin study.
Daily Tasks will typically include the following -
- Maintain the purchase ledger using Exchequer.
- Process invoices, and generate payment runs in a timely manner.
- Ensure prompt clearance of invoice queries with suppliers:
- Establish good working relationships with key suppliers to ensure timely resolution of any queries.
- Preparing payment runs.
- Processing staff expense claims
- Sales ledger raising invoices, sending invoices and remittance statements
- Credit Control - chasing of outstanding debt.
- Assisting in the preparation of payroll data / processing timesheets for submission to an external bureau: dealing with payroll queries
- Supporting the team in month end closure.
- CIS payments and returns
Requirements & Skills
- Experience of working in a Purchase Ledger environment
- A recognised accounting qualification (AAT or similar) part or fully completed would be advantageous.
- Accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
- Numeracy skills and good IT (particularly Microsoft applications) and database management skills.
- Organisation and discipline, curiosity and an analytic mind.
- Confidence, patience and capable of remaining calm under pressure is also important as is working to deadlines.
- Interpersonal skills to build relationships internally with your colleagues and external suppliers.
- A friendly can-do attitude and good communication skills.
- Good time management skills.

- Salary £30-35,000 pa
- Hours: 8.00 am to 4.00 pm Monday to Friday
