Job summary

Trial Balance in Cornwall is seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant for a temporary role based in St Austell or Newquay. The interim position focuses on transactional finance duties and offers a real chance to make an immediate impact within the finance team.

Responsibilities

• Processing purchase orders, invoices, payments, receipts and sales invoices using the organisation's finance systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance at every stage.
• Carrying out bank processing and reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and promptly.
• Supporting weekly BACS payment runs and ensuring supplier payments are made within agreed timescales.
• Monitoring outstanding debts, issuing reminders and maintaining accurate debtor records.
• Reconciling credit card transactions and ensuring compliance with internal procedures and controls.
• Generating routine financial reports and supporting audit requests.
• Liaising with internal colleagues and external suppliers to resolve day-to-day finance queries.

Accounts Assistant - St Austell or Newquay - £28,000 - £32,000 - Full time - Interim (3 to 4 months)

If you're an experienced finance professional looking for a varied interim role where you can make an immediate impact, this could be a great opportunity. I'm working with a well established organisation based in Cornwall with a requirement for a capable Accounts Assistant to join their team on a temporary basis for an initial period of three to four months.

Working as part of an established finance function, you'll take ownership of a broad range of transactional finance responsibilities, including:

• Processing purchase orders, invoices, payments, receipts and sales invoices using the organisation's finance systems,ensuring accuracy and compliance at every stage.
• Carrying out bank processing and reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and promptly.
• Supporting weekly BACS payment runs and ensuring supplier payments are made within agreed timescales.
• Monitoring outstanding debts, issuing reminders where required and maintaining accurate and up to date debtor records.
• Reconciling credit card transactions and ensuring compliance with internal financial procedures and controls.
• Generating routine financial reports, maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with audit requests and supporting documentation as required.
• Liaising with internal colleagues and external suppliers to resolve day to day finance queries and support the smooth running of the finance function.

The ideal candidate will have solid hands on experience in a similar transactional finance role and be confident working independently and to deadlines. You'll be comfortable picking up established systems and processes quickly, with a methodical approach and a strong eye for detail. Experience working within a finance function that operates within a structured policy and compliance framework would be a distinct advantage.
