Job summary

Trial Balance in Cornwall is seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant for a temporary role based in St Austell or Newquay. The interim position focuses on transactional finance duties and offers a real chance to make an immediate impact within the finance team.

You will process invoices, supplier payments, bank reconciliations, debt monitoring and reporting, working to deadlines in a structured policy environment.

Qualifications

• Solid hands-on experience in a transactional finance role.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Experience within a structured policy and compliance framework is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Processing purchase orders, invoices, payments, receipts and sales invoices using the organisation's finance systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance at every stage.
• Carrying out bank processing and reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and promptly.
• Supporting weekly BACS payment runs and ensuring supplier payments are made within agreed timescales.
• Monitoring outstanding debts, issuing reminders and maintaining accurate debtor records.
• Reconciling credit card transactions and ensuring compliance with internal procedures and controls.
• Generating routine financial reports and supporting audit requests.
• Liaising with internal colleagues and external suppliers to resolve day-to-day finance queries.
