Job summary

French Selection (FS) is seeking an Accounts Assistant to support the finance team in Honiton. The role offers hybrid work after an initial training period, with a salary circa £26,000 per annum plus benefits.

You will handle bookkeeping, multi-currency payments, VAT preparation and reconciliations, while delivering excellent customer service and administrative support as part of a collaborative finance team.

Qualifications

• Experience as Accounts Assistant or similar role.
• AAT qualification or part-qualified is essential.
• Excellent communication with high attention to detail.
• Good organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to be a strong team player as well as work independently.
• IT literate with Excel and SAGE knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Support with general bookkeeping including debit and credit processes.
• Process multi-currency payments and sales invoices and manage currency exchange differences.
• Manage sales ledger, purchase ledger and bank reconciliations.
• Assist with VAT returns including month-end and year-end closing.
• Provide excellent customer service and respond to enquiries promptly.
• Give administrative support and other ad hoc duties as required.

Main duties:

To support the finance team with cashflow management and accounting duties

The Role

• Support with general bookkeeping including debit and credit processes
• Process multi-currency payments and sales invoices and manage currency exchange differences
• Manage sales ledger, purchase ledger and bank reconciliations
• Assist the finance team with preparation of VAT returns; including month-end and year-end closing
• Provide excellent customer service and respond to enquiries in a timely manner
• Give administrative support and other ad hoc duties as required

Candidate's Profile

• Experience as an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or similar role
• AAT qualified or part-qualified – Essential
• Excellent communication skills with a high attention to detail
