Job Description

Duties of an Accounts Assistant:

  • Support the Finance Manager in daily finance tasks as part of a small, friendly team.
  • Manage customer accounts by sending invoices, chasing payments, and resolving payment issues.
  • Post daily bank transactions and keep financial records up to date.
  • Create and maintain customer accounts and send monthly statements.
  • Handle supplier invoices and process staff expense claims using tools like Pleo and WebExpenses.
  • Help with payment runs to ensure suppliers are paid on time.
  • Prepare daily sales and invoicing reports for internal use.
  • Assist with the annual audit by organising documents and communicating with auditors.
  • Provide general admin support to keep the finance department running smoothly.

The Successful Applicant

The successful Accounts Assistant should have:

  • Excellent accuracy when entering and handling financial data.
  • Strong team player who works well with others.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a finance or accounting role.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles , including debits and credits.
  • Able to meet deadlines and manage time effectively under pressure.
  • Familiarity with Sage200 or similar software is helpful, but not essential.
  • Confident using Excel , especially with tools like VLOOKUP, PivotTables, and SUMIF.
