Job summary

Clear Legal & Financial Recruitment is assisting an established accountancy practice in Eastbourne to recruit an Accounting Technician. The role covers personal and business client accounts with tax returns and VAT compliance.

Ideal candidates hold AAT or ACA/ACCA qualifications, have practice experience, and can work independently while mentoring juniors. Proficiency in Excel and Xero is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sole trader accounts, personal tax returns, company accounts and corporation tax returns.

• Maintain high technical and professional standards.
• Support and develop junior members of the team.
• Work with Xero and other cloud-based accounting systems.
• Manage your own workload and ensure deadlines are met.
• Undertake wider accountancy practice duties as required.

The Role

An established accountancy practice is looking to recruit an Accounting Technician or AAT/ACA/ACCA qualified accountant to join its busy Accounts team.

You will work with a varied portfolio of personal and business clients, providing accounts and tax compliance services while developing your technical knowledge and professional experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare sole trader accounts, personal tax returns, company accounts and corporation tax returns
• Assist with the management of a varied client portfolio
• Provide VAT compliance and related advice
• Communicate with clients and colleagues regarding queries, issues and findings
• Maintain high technical and professional standards
• Support and develop junior members of the team
• Work with Xero and other cloud-based accounting systems
• Manage your own workload and ensure deadlines are met
• Undertake wider accountancy practice duties as required

About You

• AAT qualified or ACA/ACCA qualified
• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice
• Experience preparing accounts and tax returns
• Strong attention to detail
• Good organisational and time-management skills
• Able to work independently and prioritise effectively
• Good problem-solving and investigative skills
• Confident using Microsoft Excel, Word and accounting software
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
