Job Opportunity: Accounting Technician

This role may currently be paused due to the employer reviewing received applications or no longer actively hiring.

Are you a qualified Accounting Technician with excellent relationship-building skills and a commitment to providing first-class service?

In this position, you will deliver high-quality financial management, professional advice, and accountancy services to customers and key stakeholders within Portsmouth City Council. Your responsibilities include budget monitoring and forecasting, preparing final accounts and statutory financial statements, and conducting financial analyses as needed. You will also support various tasks such as financial and contractual issue resolution, legislation interpretation, and application of financial regulations and codes of practice.

This role is vital in identifying cost-saving and efficiency measures, assisting team members in managing the budget process for the Directorate.

What You'll Need to Succeed

You should be AAT qualified or hold a CCAB equivalent qualification, possess strong organizational skills to meet deadlines, and communicate effectively across all levels of staff. Experience in budget preparation, monthly accounts, financial monitoring, and final annual accounts is essential.
