Job Title: Accountant (Part-Time / Full-Time)

Location: London – On-site at Fitzrovia Office

Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Reports to: Director / CEO

MACHINE-A is a leading multi-brand fashion boutique known for curating cutting-edge contemporary and luxury designers. With a flagship boutique in Soho, an office in Fitzrovia, and a growing global online presence, we are at the forefront of progressive fashion retail. As the business continues to grow, we are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to support and manage our financial operations.

Role Summary:

The accountant will oversee the full spectrum of financial activities, including bookkeeping, reporting, payroll, VAT, and supplier payments. The role suits someone confident in managing end-to-end finance functions within a small but dynamic retail business. Mandarin-speaking candidates are preferred, due to regular communication with suppliers and partners in China.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage accounts payable and receivable; process supplier invoices and payments
• Reconcile bank accounts and payment platforms (e.g., PayPal, Shopify Payments)
• Prepare monthly management accounts and track key retail performance indicators
• Handle quarterly VAT returns and liaise with HMRC
• Administer payroll and pension contributions
• Monitor inventory costs and margin performance across brands
• Forecast cash flow and assist in budgeting and cost analysis
• Liaise with external accountants for year-end accounts and statutory filings
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and recommend process improvements

Requirements:

• AAT qualified or equivalent; ACCA/CIMA part- or fully-qualified is a plus
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, ideally in fashion or retail
• Proficient in accounting systems such as Xero and Excel
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
• Able to work independently and communicate financial insights effectively
• Mandarin-speaking preferred (spoken and written)
• Experience in the fashion industry or multi-brand retail environment
• Familiarity with Shopify and inventory/stock management
• Understanding of international payments and multi-currency reconciliation

Working Hours: Flexible – part-time or full-time
