Job summary

Landmark Information Group - Internal, based in Exeter, is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accountant to join our Finance team. The role balances financial control, reporting excellence, and continuous process improvement.

Reporting to the Financial Accountant, you will manage month-end close, ledger integrity, statutory accounts support, VAT, and cashflow forecasting, while mentoring colleagues and driving efficiency in a collaborative finance function.

Qualifications

• Strong financial reporting, reconciliation and analytical skills.
• Experience supporting audits, statutory accounts, or group reporting activities.
• A thorough understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and governance requirements.
• Excellent communication skills with the confidence to support and mentor colleagues.
• A proactive approach to continuous improvement and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Taking ownership of key month-end accounting processes and ensuring delivery against financial reporting deadlines.
• Maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, reviewing postings, analysing financial data, and supporting balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assisting with statutory accounts preparation and twice-yearly group reporting requirements.
• Investigating accounting discrepancies, resolving issues, and posting corrective entries where required.
• Preparing cashflow forecasts and supporting payment processes, including acting as cover for the AP Supervisor.
• Preparing VAT returns, supporting year-end audits, and identifying opportunities to improve finance processes and controls.
