Job summary

Modus Accountants is seeking a recently qualified accountant to start building their own client portfolio with support from an experienced team. You will manage a portfolio of clients, prepare statutory accounts, and handle corporation tax and self assessment returns.

You will also manage VAT, build strong client relationships, and expand your technical knowledge across a variety of client types and sectors, while staying updated on regulatory changes including MTD for Income Tax.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA with full membership.
• Minimum 4 years' UK accountancy practice experience.
• Solid accounts preparation experience across multiple entity types.
• Comfortable preparing corporation tax computations and self assessment tax returns.
• Working understanding of VAT.
• Pride in quality and accuracy; clear professional client communication.

We're looking for a recently qualified accountant who is ready to step up and start building their own client portfolio, with support from an experienced team around you.

What you\'ll be doing

You\'ll manage a portfolio of clients with guidance from our senior team, building toward full ownership as you develop. Day to day, that means:

• Preparing statutory accounts for limited companies (FRS 102 Section 1A), sole traders, and partnerships
• Preparing corporation tax returns and self assessment tax returns
• Handling VAT returns and advising on VAT treatment
• Producing work that is accurate, well structured, and ready for senior review
• Building client relationships, managing expectations, and communicating proactively
• Developing your technical knowledge across a broad range of client types and sectors
• Staying current with regulatory changes, including MTD for Income Tax

What we\'re looking for

Essential

• ACCA, ACA, or CIMA qualified (full membership, not affiliate status)
• Minimum 4years\' experience in a UK accountancy practice
• Solid accounts preparation experience, ideally across more than one entity type
• Comfortable preparing corporation tax computations and self assessment tax returns
• A working understanding of VAT
• Someone who takes pride in the quality and accuracy of their work
• Clear, professional communication with clients and colleagues

Desirable

• Experience with cloud based accounting and practice management software
• Awareness of MTD for Income Tax
• Exposure to a broad client base including owner managed businesses
