An exciting position has become available for an Accountant to join our growing team based in Merseyside.

As well as demonstrating substantial accounting experience and abilities, you should be able to communicate effectively and provide support to your line manager and clients regularly.

Job Responsibilities

1. Preparing year-end accounts for a variety of clients, including complex limited companies, sole traders, partnerships, etc., using accounting software and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
2. Preparing corporation tax computations and returns for review by managers.
3. Preparing deferred tax calculations and proof of tax reconciliations.
4. VAT returns preparation and knowledge of MTD required.
5. Preparing periodic management accounts for management information purposes.
6. Ensuring year-end company accounts and corporation tax returns are submitted in accordance with deadlines.
7. Dealing with client queries via phone, email, and in person where required.
8. Managing your own small portfolio of clients under the oversight of your line manager.

Candidate Requirements

The successful applicant must possess the following skills:

• Fully or part-qualified with appropriate technical qualification and at least 3 years’ experience in practice OR Qualified By Experience (QBE) with at least 5 years’ experience in practice.
• Ability to manage a client portfolio and communicate effectively on ad hoc queries.
• Experience in producing high-standard final accounts for UK standards.
• Experience in auditing techniques and completing full audit files.
• Knowledge of consolidation accounting (desirable).
• Up-to-date with CPD requirements.
• Advanced proficiency in accounting software, with strong Excel skills.
• Good knowledge of business tax matters.
• Strong communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of CCH and Sage software preferred; training will be provided if competent with other software.
• Ability to support and train junior staff.
