Job summary

Butler Rose is supporting a well-established Leeds firm of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors to recruit an Accountant. The role offers hybrid working in Leeds with a salary up to £45,000 (DOE).

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA/AAT qualified or finalist status is required.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and basic practices.
• Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively.
• Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook; knowledge of Sage/iris suite helpful.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sole trader, partnership, and limited company accounts from manual or electronic records per WDS procedures.
• Suggest improvements on clients records to the manager and identify cross-selling opportunities.
• Prepare and present financial statements using Iris AP.
• Prepare capital allowances, and tax returns for personal, partnership, and company using Iris PT & BT.
• Prepare VAT Returns for clients using the appropriate software.
• Complete Company Secretarial duties using Iris.
• Meet deadlines for accounts, tax, and VAT submissions and track progress with the team.
• Liaise with Client Manager or Senior Manager for tax queries and information requests.
• Gather personal tax return information for individuals and liaise with clients as needed.
• Promote additional WDS services to clients to support fee growth.

Accountant
Leeds (Hybrid)
Salary up to £45,000 (DOE)

Butler Rose is supporting a well-established, independent firm of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors in Leeds to recruit an Accountant.

They are a well-established medium size firm and an established presence while maintaining a collaborative, close-knit culture. They provide a comprehensive range of accounting, audit and tax services to a diverse portfolio of owner-managed and family businesses across Yorkshire.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated accountant to develop long-term client relationships, take genuine ownership of their work and play an important role within a supportive one-team culture.

Role Requirements:

• Preparation of sole trader, partnership, limited company, and any other accounts from manual and/or electronic records referring to the WDS Procedure Manual for the process.
• Suggest improvements on clients records to the client manager to discuss at the meeting and to identify cross selling opportunities.
• Prepare and present financial statements on Iris AP.
• Preparation of capital allowances computations, personal, partnership and company tax returns on Iris PT & BT.
• Preparation of VAT Returns for clients using the correct software for that client.
• Complete Company Secretarial duties using Iris.
• Understand the deadlines for submission of accounts, Tax returns and VAT returns and support the team to not miss any.
• Liaise with Client Manager or Senior Manager for any taxation queries.
• Gather personal tax return information for individuals.
• Liaise with clients regarding queries or additional information required to assist with the work being carried out, either in person, by phone or by email.
• Increase fee growth by identifying and promoting additional WDS services, as appropriate to new and existing clients.
• Ensure that Iris client data is correct and up to date.
• Review and complete KYC and Risk Assessments along with the PAF folder for all clients before commencing work.
• Update Iris PM with job stages performed and prioritise work accordingly to meet deadlines.
• Review client debtor balances on Iris and assist in collection of debt recovery when contacting clients.
• Provide advice and support to other Accountants and Trainees when required.
• Contribute to the continual improvement of the organisation by identifying, communicating and where appropriate implementing improvements to the business, supporting business objectives.
• Be responsible for your own development, being proactive with personal development and if required keeping your CPD for your qualifications up to date.
• Other duties as requested by Directors or Senior Managers.

Personal Requirements:

• ACA/ACCA/AAT Qualified or Finalist.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Good understanding of the fundamentals of accountancy principles and basic accountancy practices.
• Able to prioritise and manage time effectively.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong Knowledge of Sage Business Cloud, and Sage 50, however further training and support will be provided.
• Knowledge of alternative software's such as Xero, QuickBooks, Dext & AutoEntry
• Fast and accurate data entry skills.
• Knowledge of Iris Accountancy Suite.
• Problem Solving Skills.
• A commercial awareness and understanding of how tasks & activities impact the business and clients.
