Job summary

Butler Rose is assisting a well-established independent firm of Chartered Accountants in Leeds with the recruitment of a Senior Accountant/Assistant Manager. The role offers autonomy, strong client relationships and a collaborative, one-team culture with genuine professional development opportunities.

You will prepare statutory and management accounts, manage VAT, advise on tax matters, mentor junior staff and utilise ProAudit, IRIS, Xero and SAGE.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA or ACCA (or exam finalist).
• At least five years of accounting experience, ideally within a practice.
• Experience with UK owner-managed and family businesses.
• Strong technical accounting skills and Excel proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Statutory & Management Accounts: Preparing statutory accounts, management accounts, and VAT returns for a varied portfolio.
• Client Relationship Management: Acting as a key point of contact for clients, visiting client premises.
• Technical Advisory: Assisting with tax compliance and advisory, including corporation tax reviews.
• Team Support & Mentoring: Developing junior team members and working with Managers and Partners.
• Software Utilization: Using ProAudit, IRIS, Xero and SAGE.

Senior Accountant/Assistant Manager
Leeds
Salary up to £50,000 (DOE)

Butler Rose is assisting a well-established, independent firm of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors in Leeds with the recruitment of a Senior Accountant.

The firm provides a full range of accounting, audit and tax services to a diverse portfolio of owner-managed and family businesses across Yorkshire.

Role Requirements

• Statutory & Management Accounts: Preparing statutory accounts, management accounts, and VAT returns for a varied portfolio of clients.
• Client Relationship Management: Acting as a key point of contact for clients, building relationships, and visiting client premises to provide accounting support.
• Technical Advisory: Assisting with tax compliance and advisory, such as reviewing corporation tax returns and conducting capital allowance reviews.
• Team Support & Mentoring: Assisting with the development of junior team members and working closely with Managers and Partners.
• Software Utilization: Utilizing technology and software, including ProAudit, IRIS, Xero and SAGE.

Personal Requirements

• Qualified ACA or ACCA (or exam finalist).
• At least five years of accounting experience, ideally within a practice environment.
• Experience in working with UK owner-managed and family businesses.
• Strong technical accounting skills, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in Excel.
