Our sales teams work directly with notable brands and entrepreneurs to develop their commerce strategies — whether that is starting or expanding their e-commerce or brick & mortar operations.

We’re looking for highly motivated sales professionals to join our team as an Account Executive on our SMB Acquisition team! This role offers a unique opportunity to build a rewarding career with a company that values growth and provides continuous opportunities for advancement.

Role Overview:

As an Account Executive on the SMB team, you will play a crucial role in driving new business opportunities and expanding our reach within the SMB market. This position is designed for sales professionals who are passionate about helping smaller businesses grow and succeed.

To succeed in this role, candidates must be able to source their own sales opportunities and navigate organizations with multiple stakeholders for the entire sales cycle. Leveraging your selling experience, you’ll also have the opportunity to influence Shopify’s broader Revenue organization (mentorship, methodologies, strategy) as we explore new ways to reach more merchants. You’ll strengthen internal partnerships and harness them to transform our merchants’ businesses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with prospects to understand their business goals, challenges, and needs, providing tailored Shopify solutions.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to identify and target potential SMB customers.
  • Lead outreach efforts via calls, emails, and social media to qualify leads and generate interest.
  • Manage the entire sales cycle from initial contact to contract signing, maintaining an accurate pipeline.
  • Collaborate with marketing, solution engineering, and customer success teams to improve client outcomes.
  • Stay informed about product features, industry trends, and market dynamics to advise merchants effectively.
  • Actively source and build your sales pipeline with a proactive approach to forecasting and prioritization.

We are currently seeking an SMB Account Executive for:

  • UK and Southern Europe markets

This is a remote position based in the UK or Ireland.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in English; native or bilingual proficiency in Spanish; ideally also French.
  • Proven experience in closing sales or sales development roles, with a track record of acquiring new business and exceeding targets in the SMB segment.
  • Passion for hunting and acquiring new business, with a consultative, solutions-oriented approach.
  • Ability to navigate complex sales cycles with multiple stakeholders, including C-level executives.
  • Experience with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and sales engagement platforms preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and convey Shopify’s value.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, with tenacity to pursue leads and close deals.
  • Comfortable with outbound prospecting and territory building.

Bonus Experience:

  • Previous experience selling POS systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with MEDDICC, BANT, and Challenger sales methodologies is a plus.
