Account Executive, Retail SMB (United Kingdom, Ireland)

Fluency in Spanish and German is required.

Our sales teams work directly with notable brands and entrepreneurs to develop their commerce strategies — whether starting or expanding their e-commerce or brick & mortar operations.

We’re looking for highly motivated sales professionals to join our team as an Account Executive on our SMB Retail Acquisition team! This role offers a unique opportunity to build a rewarding career with a company that values growth and provides continuous opportunities for advancement.

Role Overview

As an Account Executive on the SMB Retail Acquisition team, you will play a crucial role in driving new business opportunities and expanding our reach within the SMB market. This position is designed for sales professionals passionate about helping smaller businesses grow and succeed.

To succeed, candidates must be able to source their own sales opportunities and navigate organizations with multiple stakeholders through the entire sales cycle. You will leverage your selling experience and influence Shopify’s broader Revenue organization, contributing to mentorship, methodologies, and strategy to explore new ways to reach more merchants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with prospects to understand their business goals, challenges, and needs, providing tailored Shopify solutions.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to identify and target potential customers within the SMB segment.
  • Lead outreach efforts via calls, emails, and social media to qualify leads and generate interest.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from initial contact to contract signing, maintaining an accurate pipeline.
  • Collaborate with marketing, solution engineering, and customer success teams to enhance client engagement.
  • Stay informed about product features, industry trends, and market dynamics.
  • Proactively source and build your sales pipeline, forecasting and setting priorities.
We are currently seeking 2 SMB Account Executives
  • One for the UK and Southern Europe markets
Qualifications
  • Proficiency in English, plus native or bilingual proficiency in Spanish or German.
  • Proven experience in closing sales or sales development, with a strong record of acquiring new business in the SMB segment.
  • Passion for hunting and acquiring new business with a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Ability to navigate complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders, including C-level executives.
  • Experience with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and sales engagement platforms preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, with tenacity to pursue leads and close deals.
  • Comfortable with outbound prospecting and territory development.

Bonus Experience
  • Experience in New Business Sales & Sales Development.

  • Previous selling experience with POS systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with MEDDICC, BANT, Challenger sales methodologies is a plus.
