Job summary

The London Borough of Harrow is seeking an Accommodation Officer to join the Housing Needs service. You will manage a portfolio of temporary accommodation, including PSL housing, ensuring safe, suitable and well-managed homes for homeless households.

You will coordinate tenancy sustainment, repairs, landlord liaison and contract management, with duties under homelessness legislation and health and safety standards. Strong communication and organisational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in front-facing team interviews and housing needs assessments.
• Proven ability to handle complex casework face to face and in writing.
• Delivery of customer-focused service and resolution of queries by phone or in person.
• Experience managing properties, including anti-social behaviour and tenancy breaches.
• Ability to work with people under stress and maintain composure.
• Team oriented with initiative, flexibility and problem-solving.
• Accurate record-keeping with attention to detail.
• Strong numeracy for rent affordability assessments.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of temporary accommodation properties and PSL accommodation.
• Oversee void management, lettings, tenancy sustainment, repairs coordination and landlord liaison.
• Administer contracts with temporary accommodation providers and ensure contractual compliance.
• Conduct regular property inspections for health and safety compliance.
• Monitor tenancies, visits to residents, and lawful occupancy, vacancy and repossession actions.
• Provide practical housing support and signposting on housing options, welfare and finances.
