Job summary

Thirteen Group is seeking an Accommodation Support Worker for its Offender Services team in Tees Valley, North East England. The role supports ex-offenders to find and keep settled accommodation and involves work in custody and community settings.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system and ability to support people with complex lives.
  • Experience managing caseloads on digital systems using common software.
  • Clear communication, calm under pressure, and de-escalation of challenging behaviour.
  • Understanding local housing options, legislation and support services in the Northumbria area.
  • Experience delivering one-to-one and group sessions and motivating positive change.

Join us as Accommodation Support Worker at Thirteen Group!

Thirteen Group is on the lookout for an Accommodation Support Workerfor our Offender Services team. Supporting our Ministry of Justice funded accommodation contract across Tees Valley, you’ll aid the delivering of a service, ensuring ex-offenders secure and maintain suitable and settled accommodation in the North East. This role currently ends in February 2027, but has the potential to be made permanent.

The role requires a blend of work in the community and within custodial settings. This is a fast-paced role working within a dynamic team and requires you to be a self-starter who can meet tight deadlines.

These roles join 'Resettle North East' which is a service led by Thirteen and funded by Ministry of Justice. The scheme supports sentenced and unsentenced males in custody or in the community to find and keep stable accommodation.

Please note these roles are therefore subject to National Security Vetting and Prison Clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

Working in our Ministry of Justice accommodation support service team, you’ll ensure ex-offenders secure and maintain suitable and settled accommodation in the North East, enabling them to build on their life skills.

  • You’ll manage your own caseload and give people clear advice, support and guidance to help them find and keep a home.
  • You’ll assess what each person needs, spot any risks early and connect them with the right specialist help.
  • You’ll work closely with the National Probation Service to plan for releases and secure good-quality accommodation that fits their needs.
  • You’ll run one-to-one sessions and group activities to build life skills and confidence.
  • You’ll keep accurate digital records and hit the performance targets we’ve agreed with the Ministry of Justice.

About You:
  • You know the criminal justice system and feel confident supporting people with complex lives.
  • You’re great at using everyday IT, including Microsoft apps, and can manage caseloads on digital systems.
  • You communicate clearly, stay calm in tough moments and know how to de‑escalate challenging behaviour.
  • You understand local housing options, legislation and support services in the Northumbria area.
  • You have experience delivering one‑to‑one and group sessions and can motivate others to make positive changes.
  • You’ve got a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, and you’re happy to travel across the region.
