Job summary

Thirteen Group is seeking a dedicated Support Service Worker for the Penrith Road scheme in Middlesbrough. The role covers 33 hours per week with sleepover shifts, weekends, evenings and bank holidays, on a four-week rota.

You will support families facing homelessness, helping with parenting, budgeting, tenancy plans and community living while based at the on-site office. You’ll work as part of a team to deliver person-centred support, enable move-on to independent living, and participate in a

Responsibilities

  • Develop support plans with customers, including parenting, tenancy support, crisis prevention, money management and tenancy goals.
  • Provide flexible, person-centred support; identify goals via individual plans.
  • Help families to live more independently and build resilience.
  • Run activities on money management, budgeting, cooking, and resident meetings with room for creativity to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Opportunity to pick up extra hours across schemes to gain broader experience.

Join us as a Support Service Worker at Thirteen Group!

Role Overview:

Thirteen Group is on the lookout for a Support Service Worker to join our supported housing service at Penrith Road, Middlesbrough. This role is for 33 hours per week.

We offer support to families who have found themselves homeless and offer vital support with their immediate needs, right through to positive move on back to sustainable, independent living.

Penrith Road has 15 self-contained flats and a range of communal facilities, as well as a private flat for our colleagues’ sleepover. Whilst on shift, you'll be based in the office right at the heart of this scheme when you are not supporting our families.

This service operates 24/7 and you’ll work across a four-week rota, including sleepover shifts, weekends, evenings and bank holidays. This is as follows:
  • Week 1: Monday, 8.00am to 12.30pm; Tuesday to Thursday, off; Friday, 11.00am to 11.00pm*; Saturday, 8.00am to 11.30am; Sunday, 11.00am to 11.00pm*.
  • Week 2: Monday, 8.00am to 12.00pm; Tuesday, off; Wednesday, 11.00am to 11.00pm*; Thursday, 8.00am to 11.30am; Friday, off; Saturday, 11.00am to 11.00pm*; Sunday, 8.00am to 11.30am.
  • Week 3: Monday, off; Tuesday, 11.00am to 11.00pm*; Wednesday, 8.00am to 12.00pm; Thursday, 11.00am to 11.00pm*; Friday, 8.00am to 11.30am; Saturday and Sunday, off.
  • Week 4: Monday, 11.30am to 11.00pm*; Tuesday, 8.00am to 12.00pm; Wednesday and Thursday, off; Friday, 11.00am to 11.00pm*; Saturday, 8.00am to 11.30am; Sunday, 11.00am to 11.00pm*.

*Sleepover shift.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with customers to develop support plans which can include help with positive parenting, tenancy support, crisis prevention, money management and being a good tenant and neighbour.
  • Provide support to our customers in a flexible and person-centred way. You’ll identify their goals through individual support plans.
  • Offer support to families to be able to live more independently.
  • Run activities such as money management and budgeting, cooking, as well as indoor and outdoor games and hosting residents’ meetings. We’ll give you the creative freedom to provide positive outcomes for our customers.
  • The opportunity to pick up additional hours on a relief basis, working across other schemes to gain insight into other parts of the business and create strong working relationships across teams.
About You:
  • Experience of supporting vulnerable client groups, along with a good understanding of adult and child safeguarding and the complexities that it might bring.
  • Able to prioritise your workload and supportive in a non-judgmental way.
  • Emotional resilience and the ability to deal constructively with challenging behaviour.
  • This role involves lone working, so you’ll be able to thrive in your own environment, as well as part of a team.
