The Role: Academy Supervisor & Coach

We are looking for someone passionate about developing new-to-profession Financial Advisers. As part of our growing Academy team, you will report to the Head of Academy. The Academy team includes Supervisors, Operations, Training, and Recruitment Managers who work closely together in a vibrant environment to develop advisers for great client outcomes. The role is varied, and as we are growing the Academy, your strategic input will also be required.

The Advice Partnership (TAP) is the advice arm of M&G Wealth Advice, regulated and authorized by the FCA. TAP has established the Wealth Advice Academy programme, now in its 4th year, designed to support individuals with no prior financial advice experience to become financial advisers.

The Supervisor role involves coaching, supervising, training, and supporting advisers through to their graduation into TAP. You will conduct client observations, 121s, supervise to CAS, and support their ongoing development until graduation. You may also support other managers across the Academy to meet our goals.

This is an opportunity to utilize well-defined coaching and supervision skills within a close-knit team focused on enabling advisers to deliver outstanding client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure advice delivery meets regulatory and internal standards.
  • Monitor team performance to align with business objectives and strategic priorities.
  • Ensure Advisers meet competence testing deadlines and receive ongoing training and coaching.
  • Provide feedback to TAP Management on development needs for the Academy and T&C schemes.
  • Support Advisers' development to enhance their skills, knowledge, and performance.
  • Ensure delivery of advice, client screening, and onboarding meet key business requirements.
  • Monitor and manage newly appointed Advisers regarding regulatory T&C requirements.
  • Identify and deliver development opportunities to help Advisers achieve Competent Adviser Status and progress through the Academy.
  • Liaise with TAP Management, Appointed Reps, and other stakeholders to optimize advice policies for good client outcomes.
  • Assess and manage risks within your business area to foster a positive risk and control culture.
  • Lead and support your team to perform at their best and understand their contribution to business success.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Effective coaching, supervision, and mentoring skills.
  • Significant experience in front-line advice delivery and management within a mass affluent advisory business.
  • Experience managing T&C requirements.
  • Expert knowledge of industry best practices and external networks.
  • Deep knowledge of life, pensions, investment products, markets, and competitors.
  • Ability to support advisers in business development and client acquisition.
  • Expert understanding of financial services regulatory and legislative frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong people and time management skills.
  • Level 4 Diploma or equivalent in Regulated Financial Planning.
  • Desirable: Chartered status or working towards it.
  • Valid UK driving license.
