Job description

Academy Safeguarding and Welfare Lead and Class Teacher

Responsible for the implementation and leadership of safeguarding and welfare of all pupils across the academy.

To work with Pupils, parents, staff and outside agencies to ensure that the Academy fully supports pupils who need help to overcome barriers to learning. To lead, as the senior academy DSL, the facilitation of safeguarding and child protection policies, procedures, guidance and training for the Academy.

JOB PURPOSE:

Maintain an environment where all children feel secure, are encouraged to talk, and are listened to. To lead in the facilitating of safeguarding and child protection policies, training and procedures and guidance for the Academy. To act as a source of support, advice and expertise to staff on matters of safety and safeguarding and when deciding whether to make a referral by liaising with relevant agencies. Ensure that all cases of suspected or actual problems associated with child protection are referred to the appropriate agencies in line with the OCL safeguarding policy, keeping the Principal appraised. To ensure that the Oasis Community Learning is always presented positively beyond the Academy and to encourage a culture of listening to children and taking account of their wishes and feelings on any measure the Academy might have taken to protect them.
