Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Ensure statutory information is published and kept up to date (school website, GIAS, Trust records).
  • Support compliance with safeguarding, Prevent, and training requirements.
  • Liaise with Chairs, Headteachers, and the Trust’s central Governance Team.
  • Providing clerking support for additional meetings, panels, or hearings when required.

Job description

Hours: 2.3 hours per week (at times convenient for the Governing Body to meet, and to be able to have contact with school staff and the Head of Governance at mutually agreed times)

Location: Vacancies at a number of Anglian Learning schools

About the Role

You will act as the first point of contact for Governors, advising on governance legislation, procedures, and best practice, while ensuring meetings, records, and statutory requirements are managed accurately and efficiently

Key Responsibilities
  • Advising Governing Bodies on governance legislation, procedures, and best practice
  • Preparing agendas, circulating papers, and taking accurate minutes of meetings
  • Maintaining governance records, registers of interests, attendance, and membership
  • Supporting governor recruitment, elections, induction, and succession planning

Person Specification
  • Experience of governance or clerking
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and IT skills

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English
  • Clerking or governance qualifications (e.g. Level 3 Certificate in Clerking)
  • Experience working in an educational setting
  • Knowledge of statutory and legal governance requirements
