Job description

An opportunity has arisen for an Academic Manager to join us on a permanent basis in our London Moorgate campus.

Reporting to the Head of Lecturers, you will be responsible for the leadership, management and development of our team of lecturers.

We are looking for an experienced educational professional with a genuine passion for quality and excellence, who has a demonstrative ability of managing people, including the recruitment, induction and day to day line management of lecturers.

As an Academic Manager at The University of Law, you will:

  • People manage, including performance management, PDR’s, absent management and career development
  • Establish effective use and apportionment of staff resource and the optimisation of Campus resource allocation in liaison with the Campus Dean
  • Develop, monitor and upkeep the quality performance of the academic team, delivering sector leading quality results
  • Motivate and develop the team which includes raising their external academic and professional profile.
  • Ensure high levels of learning and teaching quality on Campus and ensuring outstanding student and client experience
  • Liaise with Programme and Student Leads to provide academic staff resource to contribute to the development and delivery of courses.

We are looking for individuals who are/have:

  • Considerable experience of teaching in Higher Education
  • Qualification as a solicitor or barrister or other relevant qualification with minimum of 3 years PQE
  • Interested in people management, specifically change management, staff motivation and development
  • Enthusiastic self-starter, who can lead by example and be an effective role model for academic staff
  • Able to weave your own experience in practice and/or Higher Education into teaching; ensuring that students benefit from an outstanding student experience.
