Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Programme Manager / Project Director to lead the A417 Missing Link project through its final construction stages. The role oversees governance, reporting, and assurance, ensuring schedule, cost, risk and quality targets are met.

Based in Gloucestershire with hybrid working and a requirement to spend three days per week on site, you will manage a multidisciplinary team and critical interfaces with contractors, consultants and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Extensive leadership of major infrastructure schemes.
• Proven delivery track record on highways/large transport projects.
• Strong governance, risk, and cost management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the A417 Missing Link through final construction stages.
• Provide strategic governance, reporting and assurance oversight.
• Manage schedule, cost, risk and quality performance.
• Develop and lead a multidisciplinary project team.
• Oversee contractor/consultant performance and contractual obligations.
• Maintain senior stakeholder relationships across government and partners.
• Ensure health, safety and environment standards are upheld.
• Ensure governance and control frameworks are followed.
