Job summary

The Ecclesbourne School in Duffield, Derbyshire seeks a French Language Teaching Assistant to support A Level students, helping develop speaking skills, pronunciation, and cultural understanding. The post is term-time with INSET days, working 39 weeks per year with hours aligned to school needs.

You will work with a native or near-native French speaker who is fluent in English, assisting in speaking sessions and providing authentic language insights.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native French speaker
• Fluent in English (essential for explaining grammar and supporting students)
• Confident and patient with sixth-form students
• Reliable, well-organised and a team player
• Teaching, tutoring or working with young people experience desirable but not essential

Responsibilities

• Run small group and one-to-one oral sessions with A Level students
• Prepare students for the speaking component of exams including film, literature and current affairs topics
• Help students improve pronunciation, intonation and conversational fluency
• Provide authentic insight into French language and culture
• Support class teachers with resources and speaking activities
• Support GCSE conversation practice as needed
