The Role

As Senior Compliance Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring that all food and drink served in Pret shops meets the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance. You will be responsible for upholding Pret's Food Technical & Safety Framework across franchise operations, ensuring alignment with relevant legislation and internal standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining the reputation of the Pret Brand (Quality, Safety, Legality), supporting "Pret's approach to food" with robust food science and effective supply base management. You will work collaboratively across the Food Technical and Safety teams, supporting partners, resolving supply chain challenges, and driving continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Working collaboratively with Pret teams and franchise partners to ensure Pret's Food Technical & Safety Framework is consistently applied across franchise operations and supply chains.
  • Working closely with Partnership Food & Coffee Managers and franchise partners to ensure NPD and EPD is delivered in line with the critical path.
  • Conduct technical and safety reviews in market to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Support franchise partners in implementing and maintaining high technical and safety standards.
  • Develop and deliver training and guidance materials to support franchise partners in understanding and applying technical and safety standards.
  • Following up on technical and safety related letters of non-compliance, ensuring robust corrective actions plans are in place closed out.
  • Review launch documents e.g. Allergen Guide, Shelf-Life Guide, Langar tickets.
  • Verify supplier and product due diligence, ensuring technical and food safety standards are met.
  • Collaborate with the Food Safety team to drive performance, share insights, and uphold best practices.
  • Work closely with the technical team to troubleshoot supply chain issues and support partners in maintaining product quality.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of Pret's compliance systems and standards.
  • Monitor and interpret emerging food legislation and regulatory changes, advising internal teams and partners on implications and required actions.
  • Support the development and implementation of risk-based approaches to food safety and quality management across the business.
  • Tracking quarterly KPIs with franchise partners, identifying risks and driving continuous improvement and reporting this internally.
  • Responsible for maintaining a network to "bring the outside in", as well as sitting on industry groups to ensure Pret stays on top of industry changes and best practice.
  • Audit Compliance - To comply with Pret's internal audit requirements and ensure thorough due diligence and processes are properly documented and systematically tracked at all times.
Skills and experience
  • Extensive experience in food technical roles, preferably within food manufacture, retail or food service.
  • Strong technical expertise in food safety, compliance and quality assurance.
  • Level 4 qualification in HACCP, advanced Food Safety certification, and Lead Auditor training are desirable.
  • Proven ability to influence and support partners across diverse operational models.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in French is highly desirable, particularly for reviewing specifications and labelling.
  • A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and problem-solving.
